Phase 2 of MRT Putrajaya Line in Klang Valley opens

Phase 2 of the Klang Valley’s MRT Putrajaya Line commenced operations on 16 March 2023. The opening of the line marks a culmination of seven years of intense team work among various disciplines, with SAA taking the helm as architectural lead design consultant. The team oversaw the planning and design for 10 underground stations and seven ancillary structures, through to completion.

“The sheer scale and complexity of the project, delivered in such a short time frame, was a challenge we are grateful to have taken on. The successful delivery of these stations is testament to the collaborative spirit of every stakeholder and the SAA team’s resilience,” said project director Rustam Tan.

“The journey has been demanding. Nevertheless, it is amazing to see that each neighbourhood’s character has been translated into uniquely contextual designs, allowing each station to tell a story,” said lead designer Charles Arnal.

The new Putrajaya line brings neighbourhoods and communities along the Klang Valley closer to each other, providing commuters a long-awaited sustainable transport option.
