Our Story
Early Years
Formerly known as Singapore Associate Architects, our firm was founded in 1970 on the belief that good architecture could improve the lives of Singaporeans. Influenced by the ethos that fuelled Singapore's rapid urbanisation, we gravitated towards architecture that exuded a strong civic character.
Clarifying Our Purpose
In 2010, our leadership charted a new direction for the firm. The articulation of our identity and design processes culminated in our values of being Urbanistic, Humanistic, and Optimistic. This ethos continues to guide us today, as we embark on award-winning endeavours.
A New Chapter
In 2019, we joined the Surbana Jurong Group as a member company. Today, we are part of a global network of 16,000 professionals across 40 countries — forming a collaborative collective of problem solvers for the built environment. We continue to focus on surpassing expectations in design and service delivery, strengthening our vision to positively shape the world around us.
The SJ architecture studio within the Surbana Jurong Group is now working together with SAA. Together, we are a larger group of architectural professionals, practising as an integrated team with a combined portfolio of work, and managed by a joint leadership team.
