Ooi Wei Yap
Wei Yap is the design lead of SAA design team with local and international experience, working across a wide range of typologies. He drives innovation through research-led design and with a strong appreciation of commercial building parameters. Methodical and creative in his approach, Wei Yap ensures that each project achieves the most effective business and design performance outcomes within an increasingly demanding design service industry.
Wei Yap has served as a Jury for the Australian Institute of Architects International Chapter Architecture Award 2021. His design work has garnered prominent awards, including the WAN award, the R.A.I.A. National Award for Public Architecture and the Green Apple award for ESD innovation in Malaysia. He has also been integral to landmark projects such as the Jurong Lake District Masterplan, Woodlands Health Campus, JTC Space @ Tuas, JTC Bulim and Songjiang Global Digital Media Hub.
Wei Yap has also held design teaching positions at the National University of Singapore, Deakin University, RMIT University, Monash University, University of Newcastle, and the University of Melbourne since 2003 and has mentored a generation of young and successful designers.
