Inhabiting the Nature Corridor at Ulu Pandan
5 October 2022
Addressing the challenge of creating almost 3,000 homes nestled along the Ulu Pandan canal, SAA developed a trio of inhabiting strategies, and shared them at the HDB PEAK Forum on 13 Oct.
The strategies encompass Braiding, which involves intertwining homes with green corridors, creating continuous relationships between people and nature; Layering by creating a textured landscaped with a variety of micro habitats; and Looping, which entails forming familiar environments to enable health and wellness, and promoting an active lifestyle.
SAA DCEO Michael Leong spoke on how this three pronged approach aims to create a community connected closely with nature. Interjected along a main green spine, adjacent ecological systems are layered with the live-in resident population to form a close-knitted network.
